A walk in the woods will yield many animal signs to the aware human. In this class, we will look at animal tracks, scat, fur, and any other signs that animals left behind and learn how to identify from which animal the track was left.
Experienced naturalist and tracker Bob Metcalfe will lead the group on a winter tracking hike. Bob will begin with a short presentation in the Botume House, followed by an educational hike through the Middlesex Fells. Bob will share his insights into the secret world of woodland animals through the messages written in their tracks. Participants will leave with tracking tips to understand the movement of animals through the forest.

Can’t Find a babysitter or just want to bring your kids?
If you want to take this course but childcare is an issue we are thinking of having a story time/ craft time for the younger kids for parents who are coming to the program. We ask for a $20 donation because we would have to pay the person taking care of the kids. However we need at least 5 kids to make this worth it and so may not be able to accommodate.
FINAL NOTE: if you sign up with your child, please email us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org once you have signed up for the course. We’ll notify you as to whether we can accommodate within a week of the class.
