HAND DRILL BASICS & BOW DRILL BASICS

This class will introduce you to a simple friction fire method called hand drill. A hand drill includes only a thin hearth board, and a long spindle from an herbaceous plant which is spun by rubbing your hands back and forth. The bow drill is made up of a spindle, hearth board, hand hold, and a fire bow. You will be shown the technique of starting a bow drill fire and have hands on practice with this tool. This ancient survival skill is a must-know for any outdoors enthusiast.
